Ask most renovation companies in Dubai where their joinery is made, and the answer is likely a third-party workshop in Sharjah or a supplier in China. The consequence is a lack of control — over quality, dimensions, lead times, and remediation when something goes wrong.
At ORA, we took a different approach. Our 20,000 sq ft manufacturing facility in Dubai Industrial City gives us complete ownership of the production process — from CNC cutting and edge-banding to painting, spraying, and assembly. Everything we install, we make.
This article explains why bespoke joinery manufacturing in Dubai matters — and what it means for the homes and commercial spaces we deliver.
What Is Bespoke Joinery?
Bespoke joinery refers to cabinetry, furniture, and fitted elements that are designed and manufactured specifically for a given space and brief — not selected from a catalogue of standard sizes and finishes. In the context of a home renovation, bespoke joinery typically includes:
- Kitchen cabinetry and islands
- Built-in wardrobes and dressing rooms
- Bathroom vanity units and mirror cabinets
- Media walls and TV cabinetry
- Home office joinery and library shelving
- Bespoke storage walls and integrated display units
- Entrance hallway cabinetry and boot rooms
The defining characteristic of bespoke joinery is that it fits the room perfectly — in proportion, dimension, and material — rather than being adapted to accommodate a standard-size unit.
How ORA’s Manufacturing Facility Works
ORA’s Dubai Industrial City production facility is equipped with advanced CNC routing and cutting technology, automated edge-banding machines, and spray-finishing booths. Our team of experienced craftsmen and production managers oversees every stage of the manufacturing process — from digital design to physical completion.
The workflow is fully integrated with our design studio: design files pass directly from our CAD software to the CNC machines, ensuring dimensional precision to within a millimetre. Each piece is quality-checked before it leaves the facility — and any adjustments are made before installation, not during it.
The Materials We Use
Material selection is fundamental to the longevity and performance of bespoke joinery. ORA works with trusted, certified suppliers:
- Egger board — a premium European manufactured board known for dimensional stability, consistent density, and a wide range of surface finishes including timber effects, solids, and stone textures. Egger holds FSC certification for sustainable sourcing.
- Blum hardware — Austrian-manufactured hinges, drawer systems, and lift mechanisms engineered for silent, reliable operation over decades of use
- Hettich fittings — precision German internal fittings for drawers, pull-outs, and organisational systems
- Two-pack lacquers and water-based finishes — applied in our spray booths for a consistent, durable surface that resists Dubai’s humidity and temperature variation
The Consequences of Outsourced Joinery
When joinery is outsourced to a third-party workshop, clients frequently experience:
- Dimensional inaccuracies — standard-size units that don’t fill the space cleanly, requiring filler pieces or visible gaps
- Finish inconsistency — colour variation between batches, surface blemishes, or poorly applied lacquer
- Programme delays — workshop backlogs, shipping delays, or damage in transit pushing installation back by weeks
- Poor remediation — when issues arise, the contractor deflects to the workshop, and the homeowner waits
ORA eliminates all of these failure points. When an issue arises — and in construction, issues always arise — our team resolves it in our own facility within days, not weeks.
